Happy Holidays: Enjoy the videos

Former Tiger Noah Clarke scored to put the Belfast Giants into second place in Great Britain’s Elite Hockey League. Unfortunately for Tigers fans, the following Christmas video by the Giants was made two years ago to promote their holiday homestand  so Clarke is nowhere to be seen.

I guess we cannot get everything we want for Christmas each year.

Enjoy this video and have a joyous holiday surrounded by family and friends. The blog will resume on Dec. 27.

Here is the Vermont women’s more recent version:

And if a traditional song version is more your style, here’s the Calgary Hitmen performing Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” from earlier this month:

Michigan standout defenseman Jon Merrill, pictured during a recent Devils camp, is out for six weeks with a broken neck vertebrae suffered in an exhibition game. It will not require surgery.

Two North Dakota players are battling injuries already.

I am one of the voters in the weekly WCHA web media poll, a mix of beat writers and bloggers organized by the Tech Hockey Guide.

Here is recent news of the Nic Kerdiles saga and the latest update: According to Andy Baggot of the Wisconsin State Journal, Wisconsin officials said the NCAA will not hear their appeal to the year-long suspension of Kerdiles. There is no timetable for when they will hear that appeal.

Michigan Tech will induct the entire 1961-62 NCAA championship team into its Hall of Fame, a first at the school. Here is the Houghton sports editor’s take on the upcoming season.

Here is the possible cause for Wisconsin freshman Nic Kerdiles problems with the NCAA. Here is another blogger with more details.

This Gophers blog made its WCHA preseason picks, straying from previous polls by picking CC 6th and Mankato 7th. Rylan Schwartz was named as a second team forward.

Unlike the other hockey conferences, Atlantic Hockey is enjoying some stability, for now, with Air Force favored as usual. Here is a season preview on the Falcons.

The Bowling Green coach received a two-year contract extension today.

Here is more info on Mankato’s 7-1 exhibition win ahgainst Lethbridge Sunday night. UL travels to Nebraska Omaha for the final exhibition game tonight.
