WCHA Roundup: Denver chews up Big Red; MSU beats Friars in OT

DENVER –  Freshman Quentin Shore scored twice while Chris Knowlton, Davd Makowski and Nolan Zajac all recorded two assists to propel the Pioneers past the Big Red.

No. 14 Minnesota State 4, Providence 3 OT

MANKATO –  Chase Grant scored with 2:34 left in overtime to lift the Mavericks to a win over the visiting Friars of Hockey East.

No. 7 North Dakota 5, No. 20 Holy Cross 2

GRAND FORKS –  Hockey Commissioners Association Player of the Month Corban Knight continued his hot streak, recording two goals and two assists in the first two periods to spark North Dakota to a 5-0-1 mark in its last six games and an easy win over the visiting  Crusaders.

No. 10 Western Michigan 6, Bemidji State 0

BEMIDJI – Western Michigan scored three goals in the first five minutes of the second period to blow open a scoreless tie. The six  goals were the most by the Broncos of the CCHA this season.

Northern Michigan 6, No. 15 St. Cloud State 2

ST. CLOUD – The host Huskies went 0-for-5 on the power play and fell to the last-place Wildcats of the CCHA.  NMU scored three goals on seven shots in the third period to pull away. Cory Thorson and Ben Hanowski both scored for the WCHA-leading Huskies.

Wisconsin 2, Alaska-Anchorage 0, end first period
