Report: Quinnipiac coach offered UMass job

Massachusetts has offered current Quinnipiac head coach Rand Pecknold a job as its new head coach, and Pecknold is ready to accept, sources tell College Hockey News.

That CHN article has been contradicted by, which cites an unnamed source “close to the situation.”

A 1990 graduate of Connecticut College, Pecknold has been the only coach in Quinnipiac’s Division I history, dating back to 1994-95. In July 2010, Pecknold signed a contract extension with Quinnipiac through 2014-15.

He may replace Don Cahoon, who recently resigned after 12 years with the Minutemen.
