Bidwill eager for first full pro season

Former Tiger Arthur Bidwill is looking forward to his first full season as a pro following this summer’s offseason.

He is unsure if he will be back with the Allen Americans organization, which fired its coaching staff recently, but is confident his short time before a minor knee injury in the Central Hockey League playoffs will get other teams’ attention this offseason. He has since healed, he said at the recent CC awards banquet.

“I liked it down there,” he said. “I love the NHL sheet and the (slower) speed of the league. I did not get scored on and I was paired up against their top lines.”

College teammate Brian McMillin (46 points, 17g, 29a) is also on the Americans’ roster. Bidwill was plus-7 in four playoff games (no points).

The coaching shuffle was because Mike Modano and former Dallas Stars teammates Ed Belfour, Richard Matvichuk, and Craig Ludwig were added to the Americans organization.  Modano, Belfour and Ludwig are minority owners with current majority owner Doug Miller, owner Steve Duchesne, and minority partner and Team President, Matt Canavan.   Richard Matvichuk will serve in a hockey operations role.
