UNO’s Broadhurst leaves early

UNO head hockey coach Dean Blais announced today that junior left wing Terry Broadhurst has signed a professional contract with the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League, foregoing his senior season with the Mavericks.

“Terry has exceled in his three seasons at UNO, and he is someone who has always had high expectations,” said Blais.  “It has been his aspiration to play in the NHL, and this is a step toward that goal.  We wish him the best.”

Broadhurst was UNO’s second-leading scorer during the 2011-12 season with 16 goals and 20 assists for 36 points.  His goal and assist totals also ranked second best on the team.  The native of Orland Park, Ill. led the team with seven powerplay goals and ranked second with three game winners.  He was one of six players to appear in all 38 games.
