Final Five: MTU 1, Denver 1, end second

Michigan Tech’s Blake Pietila scored midway through the first period to forge a 1-1 tie that has held up through two periods at the WCHA Final Five quarterfinal at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Denver’s Ty Loney scored only 3:50 into the game off of Drew Shore’s 30th assist of the season for the third seed Pioneers.

DU goalie Juho Olkinuora has made 25 saves so far but MTU netminder Josh Robinson, pictured at left, has made some huge saves on rebounds, including two in the second period to keep the game at 1-1.
