Tigers lead 1-0 after two periods

Simplifying the Colorado College power play seems to have worked.  Sophomore Jaden Schwartz scored on a one-timer high stick side form the low slot to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead with 8:12 left in the first period against rival Denver.

The teams went scoreless in the second period.

CC’s power play improved to 1 of 2 on the evening after going 1-for- 16 the previous four games. The Tigers did a better job getting shots on net and creating some opportunities – for Rylan Schwartz and Archie Skalbeck — in the first man advantage.

Jaden Schwartz’s goal came off a centering pass from Rylan Schwartz from the left faceoff circle. Gabe Guentzel got the second assist.

A rare college fight broke out between DU captain Dustin Jackson and CC defenseman Aaron Harstad with Jackson dropping his gloves. Both received game misconducts and are out the rest of the game.

CC out shot Denver 14-4 in the first 20 minutes with nine between the dots, including Schwartz’s score.
